Pharmacy department at Hospital UiTM had a humble beginning all the way back in 2010; when the first Faculty of Medicine, UiTM was established. The first pharmacy under Faculty of Medicine, UiTM operated at the designated Faculty of Medicine campus in Selayang, Selangor Darul Ehsan. In the beginning, the pharmacy department was only manned by a pharmacist and 2 pharmacist's assistants.
Then, in 2011, we witnessed the newly operation of Faculty of Medicine, UiTM at a full-fledged Sungai Buloh Campus. This campus, which is also known as Clinical Teaching Centre (CTC) among UiTM staffs, is equipped with both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy; catering around 100-200 outpatients daily and up to 100 patients in the wards.
In the year of 2021, the new Hospital UiTM at Puncak Alam was ready for operation, with a much larger pharmacy department and total number of beds. Henceforth, the total number of staffs at the pharmacy department currently stands at 45; which will continue to grow in the years to come.

care towards healthcare excellence.
Mission
We strive to provide innovative pharmaceutical care through collaboration with other
healthcare professionals, enhance pharmaceutical knowledge through continuous
pharmacy education and delivering exceptional quality services.
Objective
- To ensure patient safety by aiming 100% of prescription wrongly filled are detected before
dispensing - To ensure at least 90% of outpatient pharmacy patient receive their medication within 20 minutes to promote customer satisfaction.
- To establish a good rapport with customer by ensuring 100% customer feedbacks are responded within 10 working days.
- To instill good storage practice at all wards, units, and clinics by conducting regular inspection minimum twice a year.
- To ensure judicious use of antibiotic by monitoring antibiotic utilization trend twice a year
- To ensure 0% value of stock disposed and written off to value of stock handled annually
- To aim for at least 85% of Clinical Pharmacokinetic Services (CPS) recommendations are accepted.
Pharmacy Department, HUiTM has 5 units which serve various functions across multiple core services. These 5 units are:
- Specialist Clinic Pharmacy
- Ward Supply Pharmacy
- Pharmaceutical Preparation Pharmacy
- Drug Information Services Unit
- Medical Store
The services that are offered by these units are as follows:
Specialist Clinic Pharmacy
Farmasi Specialist Clinic Pharmacy is located at Level 2, Hospital UiTM Puncak Alam. Outpatient pharmacy located at UiTM Medical Centre, Sg Buloh; is also under the same unit. The main core services offered here are the supply of safe & accurate medications to the patients of Specialist Clinic/ discharged patients; as well as in providing counselling services on medications/devices.
Ward Supply Pharmacy
Ward Supply Pharmacy is located on Level 1, UiTM Hospital, while Inpatient Pharmacy at UiTM Sg Buloh Medical Center is located on Level G. This unit is responsible for dispensing medicines that have been prescribed by doctors for patients in the ward, supplying medicines 'Floor Stock' & 'Dangerous Drug', conduct drug counseling activities/medical devices (e.g. insulin pen, inhalers) for patients in the ward, as well as conduct 'Therapeutic Drug Monitoring' (TDM) activities of certain medications.
Pharmaceutical Preparations Pharmacy
Pharmaceutical Preparation Pharmacy is located on Level 1, Hospital UiTM Puncak Alam. This unit is responsible for providing 'Total Parenteral Nutrition' & cytotoxic Drug Reconstruction, participating in clinical ward.rounds, as well as preparing galenical products.
Drug Information Services Unit
Drug Information Services Unit is located on Level 1, UiTM Puncak Alam Hospital. The main function of this unit is to provide accurate & prompt feedback related to pharmaceutical care to hospital staff or patients, update Hospital Medication Formulary & be involved in PUSPa Hospital Committee, provide Medication Error & drug allergy report, as well as conduct continuous training activities for pharmacy staff.
Medical Store Unit
The Medical Store is located on Level 1, Hospital UiTM Puncak Alam. This unit is responsible for ensuring that the procurement and supply of medicines at UiTM Hospital is at an optimal level.
