The Gastroenterology Unit has been an integral part since the inception of UiTM Faculty of Medicine and Hospital UiTM. While having active participation in the current Hospital UiTM events and activities, The Gastroenterology Unit is also on a mission of expansion with critical short and long-term key initiatives and plan. It is envisioned that GastroUiTM at Hospital UiTM will deliver a fresh multidisciplinary outlook on Gastrointestinal diseases for the Greater Klang Valley area and nationwide, in close co-operation with our hepatobiliary and surgical colleagues.
GastroUiTM members have had broad experience with previous attachments to various centres in Malaysia and Japan. This has not only broadened their horizons but also ensures active knowledge transfer and continuous updates on techniques and technologies. The experience gained ensures a comprehensive digestive diseases services including luminal gastroenterology, hepatobiliary and pancreatic medicine, advance endoscopic procedues including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) as well as functional and GI motility assessment and management.
GastroUiTM is also heavily involved in the teaching and supervision of undergraduates and postgraduates students. Research activities are also an essential component with peer reviewed publications at both local and international journals as well as presenting at various meetings such as Digestive Disease Week (US DDW), Asia Pacific Digestive Week and the local Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology GUT meeting.

Gastroenterology is the division of internal medicine specialising in diagnostic, therapeutic, management and research of the gastrointestinal tract and liver.
We are involved in:
- Diagnostic, therapeutic and clinical management of gastrointestinal diseases
- Upper and lower endoscopic diagnostics and therapeutic services
- Lectures and clinical teaching from undergraduate medical students to post-graduate studies
- Clinical research including epidemiological, behavioural and bio-medical studies of the gastrointestinal physiology and diseases process.
