The Department of Orthopaedic and Traumatology in UiTM was formerly known as the Discipline of Orthopaedic Surgery under the Cluster of Surgical Sciences. However, in 2018 the unit was given a departmental status and an appointed head of department by the Vice Chancellor.
The unit began with 4 orthopaedic surgeons with Hospital Sungai Buloh as the initial place of practice which later extended to Hospital Selayang. Now, the department has expanded to having 12 orthopaedic surgeons in different subspecialities lead by the Head of Department, Associate Prof Mohd Fairudz bin Mohd Miswan.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides the following clinical services:
- 24 hour Orthopaedic consultation and treatment in Trauma and Emergency Department.
- Outpatient, Inpatient, Daycare services
- Inpatient Services
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has the following Inpatient Services, inclusive of subspecialty:
- Trauma & Advanced Musculoskeletal Trauma
- Spine Surgery
- Hand and Microsurgery
- Arthroplasty
- Orthopaedic Oncology
- Paediatric Orthopaedic
- Sports injury
- Day Care Surgery
Provide day care facilities for the performance of minor local anaesthetic procedures.
