DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVES
- Deliver optimum, effective, safe and correct treatment to cancer patients
- Ensure treatment given within appropriate and suitable timeframe by putting patient first
- Active participation and encourage tumour board multidisciplinary meeting with other specialities involved in the care of cancer patients such as the surgeons.

- Provide high quality oncology related teaching to the medical undergraduates

SCOPE OF SERVICES
The oncology unit of HUiTM provides holistic care to all adults with solid tumour. Patients who are 16 years old or younger are treated under the care of paediatric team at the paediatric department of HUiTM. Meanwhile, those with haematological malignancies such as leukaemia and lymphoma are under the care of the haematologist. Treatment provided at oncology unit includes outpatient chemotherapy, hormonal treatment, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, supportive and palliative treatment.
1.OUTPATIENT CLINIC
- Provide consultation including where appropriate, discussion on initiation of oncological systemic treatment
- Initiate and monitor oral systemic oncology treatment
2. ONCOLOGY DAYCARE
Treatment given in oncology day care are:
- Chemotherapy
- Targeted therapy (intravenous and subcutaneous)
- Immunotherapy
- Supportive treatment such as intravenous bisphosphonates
Procedures that can be performed in oncology day care are:
- Blood transfusion
- Therapeutic peritoneal drainage
